A Claremore man was killed when he was thrown from a rolling pickup truck near Oologah Lake. Seth Darby Inman, 22, was one of five passengers in a truck that crashed at about 12:22 a.m. Saturday on County Road 340 at the Sunnyside Boat Ramp in Rogers County, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
19-year-old Hayden Elmore of Stroud was driving a Ford F150 on unpaved road and failed to negotiate a curve while going down a hill. The pickup ran off the side of the roadway, struck a guardrail then flipped over one time coming to rest on its wheels.
Inman, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected out of the vehicle while it was rolling and pronounced dead upon arrival at an Owasso hospital.
There were four other passengers in the vehicle. Beth Ann Riddle, 17, of Collinsville was pinned in the vehicle for about 40 minutes and freed by Northwest Fire Department using the jaws of life. She was treated and released at a Tulsa hospital. Owasso resident Dallas M. Bechkam, 16, was treated and released at a local hospital for head injuries. Sixteen-year-old Ryan K. Young of Collinsville was treated and released at a Tulsa hospital.Sixteen-year-old Jacob Jay Barton of Collinsville was treated and released at a Tulsa hospital.
The driver was uninjured.
The occupants of the truck were wearing safety belts except for Elmore and Riddle, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol report.
The Highway Patrol report lists the driver's condition at the time of the crash as apparently normal, and the reason for the crash as unsafe speeds on an unpaved road.
